30 Jun Team Visit: May 2026
A brief recap of what Lindsey and Felicia were able to accomplish while in Tanzania earlier this spring:
Lawyer hired, land agreement signed, NGO/registration to begin in TZ!
Checked in with all of our staff about their roles noted any questions /concerns
Medical day- wellness and dental checkups for all children. Two major concerns:
- Queen- 4 year old girl had hernia surgery two weeks ago and is doing great
- Joance- 5 year old boy has a spinal injury. Purchasing insurance to cover MRI + other medical costs
Finalized Dining Building architectural plans, hired contractor, building to commence early July 2026.
Visited our partner school Bright Future Academy twice. We were very impressed by the Director, the teachers and school as a whole. Thank you to all that sponsor!!! The kids are doing really well.
We held a parent meeting with all 1st grade caregivers at FCC to discuss expectations and their commitment to the opportunity we are providing of sponsorships to Bright Future Academy.
Ruth has all children past and present now coming for 4 hours 10-2 on Saturday + Sunday for recreation, art, play and most importantly lunch.
Increased food budget to include sardines 2x/week and for weekend lunches.
Visited Girls Foundation of Tanzania and met Alex Behan from Tanzania Children’s Fund for lunch. Both meetings were networking opportunities and ways to learn from those who came before us!
Added a small gate on side of the perimeter wall.
Purchased supplies: Plastic food storage, chef’s apron and hat, large pots, thermoses, plates, cups, spoons, cleaning products, etc.
The fun stuff:
- Staff and student party which included Simba, our friend from Kilimanjaro.
- And of course- played with the children and got to know them all so well!
